There are volleyball courts, lots of vendors selling food and areas if you want to rent beach chairs or umbrellas. The beach is open from 9am to 8pm in the warmer months and 10am to sunset in the cooler months. The beach itself is free though depending on where you park you may have to pay for parking. Fort Sumter National Monument

Shem Creek Park

Shem Creek Park is located just south of Isle of Palms. This is a great place to come and have great food and experience the outdoors. Shem Creek is also a popular destination to come and fish. There is usually an area setup that will even clean your fish once you catch them (for a fee of course). There are lots of trails and scenic views of the marsh and creeks for you to enjoy. Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash and parking is free. Shem Creek Park is open from 5am-midnight. Thomson Park

Caper’s Island is barrier island owned by the State of South Carolina. It is located just 15 minutes north of Charleston.
