The distance between Babylon and Jerusalem is roughly 500 miles(805 kilometers). Jerusalem is located in the central hill country of Israel, while Babylon is located in what is now Iraq, on the Euphrates River. The two cities were important centers of trade and culture in the ancient world. They were also rivals, with each city claiming to be the most important in the region. The Bible mentions Babylon and Jerusalem many times, often as symbols of opposing values. For example, in the book of Isaiah, Jerusalem is described as “the city of righteousness” while Babylon is called “the city of violence.” Jerusalem was also the center of Jewish worship, while Babylon was home to the ancient Babylonian religion.
